    Paradip Port - Paradip Port is a major seaport in Orissa, which is considered to be one of the largest ports on the eastern coast of India. During 2009 - 2010, this port recorded the handling of over 57 million tonnes of cargo, including thermal coal and iron ore. It is also the chief sea-borne trade centre in the Bay of Bengal, whose foundation stone was laid in 1962 by the then Prime Minister of India, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. Paradip Port has also been specially mechanised with iron ore berths, cargo berths, container handling facilities and coal handling plants. Close to the port lies the Paradip Beach at the convergence of the Mahanadi River and the Bay of Bengal.

     

    Bhitarkanika National Park - The Bhitarkanika National Park is situated in the Kendrapara District of Orissa. Sprawling over an area of 625 sq km, this national park is a natural habitat of animals like leopard cat, fishing cat, spotted deer, sambar, python, king cobra, terrapin and marine turtle. The sanctuary is home to avifauna species and reptiles, such as hornbill, bar headed geese, pintail, white bellied sea eagle, sea gull, waders, salt water crocodile and rare white crocodile. The ideal time to visit this park is from September to November, as the weather remains pleasant during these three months.

     

    Jhankad - Jhankad, located near the city of Cuttack, is famous for an old Sarala temple. This temple is devoted to Goddess Sarala, a form of Goddess Saraswati. It is also famous for an annual car festival, Sri Mahabishuba Sankranti and Raja Sankranti. Jhankad is closely associated with Sarala Das, the first epic poet of Orissa.

     

    Gahirmatha Beach - Gahirmatha Beach, located near the Bhitarkanika National Park in Orissa, is about 35 km long. It is a part of the Gahirmatha Marine Wildlife Sanctuary which includes the adjacent portion of the Bay of Bengal. Sea turtles and monitor lizards are found in abundance on this beach. This beach is also the main nesting place of the rare Olive Ridley sea turtles and rare white crocodiles. The small park near this beach is inhabited by several deer and migratory birds.

     

    Baladeva Temple - The Baladeva temple, dedicated to Lord Baladeva, is an important pilgrimage site located in Kendrapara. This temple is also known as the 'Tulasi Kshetra' which is considered to be one of the five holy kshetras in Orissa.
