    Lachung Monastery - The Lachung Monastery, established in 1880, is a Nyingma Buddhist Gompa in the Lachung Valley. This monastery is known for the famous Mask Dance, which is organised every year.

     

    Chungthang - Chungthang is a beautiful town situated at the confluence of River Lachen and River Lachung Chu. This town of North Sikkim is located at an average elevation of 1,790 metres (5,873 feet). As per the belief of local people, Guru Padmasambhabwa visited this town before going to Tibet. The rock where he once rested still has his footprints. Furthermore, paddy, which generally does not grow in this area, can be seen growing around the rock. There is another legend according to which Guru Nanak Dev Ji also visited this place on his way to China and Tibet.

     

    Yumthang River - The Yumthang River is a popular tourist attraction in the Yumthang Valley. Also known as Yumthang Chu, this river flows through the Shingba Rhododendron Sanctuary that is surrounded by Rhododendron trees and shrubs. Towards the right of this river lies a hot spring, which is frequented by tourists year-round.

     

    Jawaharlal Nehru Botanical Garden - The Jawaharlal Nehru Botanical Garden, located close to the Rumtek Monastery, is home to a variety of flora. This garden is maintained and managed by the Parks and Gardens Unit of the Forest Department of the Government of Sikkim. Established in 1987, this garden comprises of rare plants and trees, along with having a dense temperate forest of oak within its premises. Best time to visit this garden is from March to May as well as from October to Mid-December.
