    Pookot Lake - Pookot Lake, one of the prominent water bodies, is located in Pookode town, at a distance of around six kilometres from Vythri. Covering an area of around 8.5 hectares, the water body is about 6.5 metres in depth. Dotted with lush green forests and beautiful surroundings, the freshwater lake is an ideal picnic spot and a weekend getaway. Renowned for housing an aquarium and a green house, the lake can be visited throughout the year. Apart from this, the area around the lake also has a children's park, a handicrafts emporium and a spice emporium. Boating can be done in the lake by either pedal or motor boats. The common vegetation near the lake comprises evergreen forests, which are surrounded by hills.

     

    Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary - The Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary was established in 1973 and is an integral part of the Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve. It is surrounded by Nagarhole and the Bandipur National Park of Karnataka in the north-east and the Mudumalai Wildlife sanctuary on the south-east. The highest peak of the sanctuary is Karottimala. South Indian moist deciduous and evergreen rainforests comprise the vegetation of the sanctuary. Maruthi, karimaruthi, vengal, rosewood, venteak, chadachi, mazhukanjiram, teak and bamboo are some of the prominent plants found in the sanctuary. Apart from being a natural habitat of the Indian tigers, the sanctuary also offers shelter to elephants, monkeys, panthers, jungle cats, civet cats and wild dogs. Visitors can also spot bisons, deer and bears, who are the other inhabitants of the sanctuary.

     

    Soojipara Falls - Soojipara Waterfalls has an elevation ranging from around 100 to 300 feet and is popular among nature and adventure lovers. Adventure enthusiasts can engage in various watersports such as water rafting, swimming and bathing in the water of the falls that is collected in a pond below. Tourists can also stay at tree top huts at Soojipara, which offer beautiful views of the valleys of the Western Ghats and the surrounding springs.

     

    Banasura Sagar Dam - Banasura Sagar Dam, one of the largest earthen dams in India, is located on the Karamanathodu tributary of Kabini River, which flows in the region. Constructed in 1979, the dam is a part of the Banasura Sagar Project. The Banasura Hill, lying in the background, offers beautiful views. Located at a distance of around 20 km from Vythri, the dam was constructed with an aim to aid in the irrigation of the region. In addition to this, the dam was also meant to provide drinking water and generate hydro electricity. Counted among the second largest earthen dams in Asia, the site is an ideal starting point for hiking into the surrounding mountains. The reservoir of the dam houses a set of islands, which appeared during its construction. Boating facilities and speed boats are available at the dam site for travelling between the small islands. The area around the dam also has a small children's park.

     

    Meenmutty Falls - The Meenmutty Falls cascade from a height of 300 feet and is one of the best-known scenic waterfalls in Wayanad. The gushing fast flowing water falling amidst lush foliage and black rocks is worth a visit. It is a favourite spot for those looking for an adventurous trek and a pristine picnic spot.

     

    Meppadi - Meppadi is situated at a distance of around 17 km from Vythri. Famous for the Sentinel Rock Waterfalls, it also has the Sentinel Rock, which is more than 200 metres high.
