    Alappuzha Beach - Alappuzha Beach in the Alappuzha town is also known as Alleppey Beach. This beach is among the most attractive beaches of Kerala that has Arabian Sea to the west. Many lakes, freshwater rivers and lagoons can be found here. Tourists can also indulge in activities at the nearby Vijaya Beach Park.

     

    Cherthala - Cherthala town is situated at a distance of about 11.9 km from the Mararikulam village. The town has several pilgrimage centres. The popular sites near the town are the Kadavil Bhagavathi temple and the Thiruayranikkulam Kalathil temple of Pallipuram. The Velorvattom Mahadeva temple is a famous temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. The Mahadeva temple of Velorvattom is managed by the Kerala Urazma Devaswom Board. It is believed to have been constructed about 700 years ago by Villimangalm Swami. There are two deities of Lord Shiva in the temple, which are known as Vadakkanappan and Thekkanappan. Popular churches in the region are the St. Andrews Church, St. Thomas Church and St. Joseph Church. The St. Andrews Church, also known as the St. Sebastian's Church, is situated in Arthunkal near Cherthala. This church is a well known Latin Catholic Christian pilgrim centre. The St. Andrews Church was established in 1851 by the Portuguese missionaries.  The church has a statue of St. Sebastian, brought from Milan (Italy), in the right wing.

     

    Mararikulam Shiva Temple - Mararikulam Shiva temple is a popular attraction of the region and has idols of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. The temple is also  known for its beautiful architecture. Ashtami Rohini, Navarathri, Thiruvathira and Mahashivratri are the major festivals celebrated in the temple.

     

    St. Andrews Church - The St. Andrews Church in Cherthala, also known as the St. Sebastian's Church, is situated in Arthunkal near Cherthala. This church is a well known Latin Catholic Christian pilgrim centre. The St. Andrews Church was established in 1851 by the Portuguese missionaries.  The church has a statue of St. Sebastian, brought from Milan (Italy), in the right wing. A popular ten day feast of St. Sebastian is held in January. On the last day, worshippers crawl on their knees from the church to the beach. Afterwards, a ceremonial procession is organised at the Arthunkal Beach.

     

    Velorvattom Mahadeva Temple - The Velorvattom Mahadeva Temple in Cherthala is a famous temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. It is managed by the Kerala Urazma Devaswom Board. It is believed to have been constructed about 700 years ago by Villimangalm Swami. There are two deities of Lord Shiva in the temple, which are known as Vadakkanappan and Thekkanappan.
