The Parappara Dam, constructed across the Shenduruny and Kulathupuzha rivers, is located in this sanctuary.

     

    Sasthamcotta Lake - Sasthamcotta Lake, situated around 19 km away from the Kollam town, is the largest freshwater lake in Kerala. According to the legend, this was the place where Jatayu, the giant vulture of the epic Ramayana, fell after being injured by Ravana when he was taking away Goddess Sita.
