    Athirappilly Falls - Located 63 km from the city region of Thrissur is the Athirappilly Falls, which is also a popular picnic spot for the travellers because of the location and the 80 ft high waterfall. Laying in the Sholayar ranges this waterfall consists of two amusement parks in the nearby location by the name of DreamWorld and SilverStorm. The Vazhachal Falls are also located near the entrance of the Athirappilly Falls about 3 km away. The much talked about controversy related to the hydroelectric dam that was proposed by the state is also related to this waterfall. The dam has been highlighted in several Indian movies directed by noted Tamil film director, Maniratnam, including Raavan that was mostly shot here, whereas Dil Se, Kannathil Muthamittal, Iruvar and Guru featured the waterfall in songs.

     

    Vazhachal Falls - The Vazhachal Falls are located just 3 km to the official entrance of Athirappilly Falls and it has its origin from Chalakudy River. This waterfall, cascading on the edge of the Sholayar forest range has been categorized as one of the finest present in India. There are several water parks and natural gardens located near to the region of the waterfall. The months from June to October are considered as the best seasons to visit this place because of the pleasant weather conditions. Private taxis and buses are also available that connect this place from the Chalakudy Bus Station.

     

    Charpa Falls - Located to the nearby region of Athirappilly waterfalls, is the Charpa Falls, which is about 60 km from the district of Thrissur. The height of this waterfall is not at all impressive compared to the other waterfalls but during monsoons, the water flow in the region is extreme.

     

    Chalakudy River - Chalakudy River also known by the name of Chalakudy Puzha is located in the Thrissur district of the state of Kerala. It is also the source of many waterfalls across Kerala state and is the fourth longest river of Kerala. Deep vegetation cover is located near to the region of the river because of the fertile soil. The origin of the river is said to be in the region of Tamil Nadu, in Anamalai Region. This river is said to be a major collection of tributaries like Parambikulam, Kuriyarkutti, Sholayar, Karapara and Anakayam of Kerala state. The popular waterfalls of Athirappilly falls and Vazhachal Falls are located on this river.
