    Wayanad Heritage Museum - The museum has four blocks called the Gothrasmruthi, Devasmruthi, Jeevanasmruthi and Veerasmruthi. The first block, Veerasmruthi, showcases stones of primitive wars and tiger hunts. The Gothrasmruthi, another block, displays various items belonging to the tribes of Wayanad, like the fish collecting bag, cow bell and plough. The Wayanad Heritage Museum is an archaeological museum, also known as the Ambalavayal Heritage Museum. This museum has a collection of rare artefacts belonging to the 2nd century. Various artefacts, belonging to the 17th century and the Neolithic age are displayed at the Devasmruthi Block. There are around 20 stone idols, from the 12th century to the 16th century, exhibited here. The last block of this museum, the Jeevanasmruthi, displays several hunting traps, bangles, ear ornaments and necklaces that were used by various tribes of Wayanad.

     

    Banasura Sagar Dam - Just 21 km from Kalpetta, the mini hydro project boasts of India's largest earth dam, Banasura sagar dam. The small islands are those areas that remained when other low-lying parts were submerged by the reservoir. The dam precincts are perfect for treks and hikes to reach the Banasura peak.

     

    Soochippara Waterfalls - Soochippara Waterfalls, also known as the Sentinel Rock Waterfalls, is located in the vicinity of Meppadi. The surrounding area of the waterfall serves as a picnic spot. Activities like swimming, bathing and rafting can be enjoyed here. The tree top huts offer a beautiful view of the Western Ghats and the shining spring water.

     

    Chembra Peak - Chembra Peak is at a height of around 2100 m above sea level. It is the highest peak of the Wayanad region. Various camps are set up on the top of this peak for tourists to rest. The District Tourism Promotion Council also provides guides, sleeping bags, tents and trekking equipment. Tourists can view Wayanad from this peak. The main attraction of the peak is a lake that never dries up. 

     

    Meenmutty Falls - The Meenmutty Falls, located in Kalpetta, is considered as one of the most beautiful waterfalls of the Wayanad region. It has three separate tiers and falls from a height of around 300 m.

     

    Neelimala View Point - The top of this hill provides for some of the best views of the low-lying valley. There are numerous exciting trekking trails and Neelimala viewpoint offers panoramic views of the magnificent Meenmutty falls.

     

    Muthanga Wildlife Sanctuary - The Muthanga Wildlife Sanctuary, in Wayand, is a popular tourist attraction in the Kalpetta region. It covers an area of around 345 sq km and is covered by dense forests. Tourists can spot birds like bulbul, peacock, peafowl and snipe in this sanctuary. Few other birds like cormorant, babbler and egret can also be spotted here. Apart from birds, this sanctuary is home to various animals like the leopard, tiger, spotted deer and Asian elephant. Tourists can enjoy the elephant safari, arranged by the Forest Department, to explore the surroundings and the wildlife of this sanctuary.   

     

    Puliyarmala Jain Temple - The Puliyarmala Jain Temple, also known as Tipu’s Fort, is located near Kalpetta. It was named Tipu's Fort because Tipu Sultan used this temple for housing ammunition. It is assumed to have been built in the 13th century and is dedicated to Ananthanatha Swami, a famous saint. This Jain temple is situated near the Sulthan Bathery.

     

    Vaduvanchal - Vaduvanchal is situated at a distance of around 16 km from Kalpetta and is famous for various attractions like the Cheengeri Mala and Phantom Rock. The Cheengeri Mala, a popular sightseeing, is a skull shaped rock that lies in the vicinity of the Ambalavayal town. Other attractions of this place are the Neelimala View Point and the Chethalayam Falls.

    Koottamundu Glass Temple - The Koottamundu Glass Temple is an important attraction for the Jain community and is located on the hill side of Vellarimala. This temple was established to honour Parshawanatha Swami, a popular Jain Saint. It is situated around 22 km away from Kalpetta and serves as a place for meditation. The inner walls of this temple are decorated with mirrors.

     

    Pakshipathalam Bird Sanctuary - The Pakshipathalam Bird Sanctuary is located at a height of around 1740 m above sea level. Various rare birds and animals can be spotted from the watchtower that lies in the vicinity of this sanctuary.

    Sentinal Rock waterfalls - Just 22 km from Kalpetta, the 200 m Sentinal Rock waterfalls cascade in three steps and look magnificent. The Falls are about a 2 km trek off the main road, through lush green forests. You can also see wildlife such as deer and monkeys close to the waterfall.

     

    Valliyoorkavu Bhagavathi Temple - The Valliyoorkavu Bhagavathi Temple is dedicated to Goddess Durga, who resides here in three forms, Bhadrakali, Vana Durga and Jala Durga.
