    Gondola Lift - It is located on the backdrop of the beautiful Himalayan Peaks in the Gondola Village of Gulmarg. The Gondola covers the distance from Gulmarg to Kongdoor and from Kongdoor to Apharwat.Gondola Lift is considered as one of the major attractions of Gulmarg. Designed in technical collaboration with a French Company PUMA, and managed by the Jammu and Kashmir Cable Car Corporation, it is the only cable car system in Asia that travels up an elevation of 13,500 ft above sea level.It uses 19 towers to operate the Gulmarg-Kongdoor stretch and can handle 1,500 people at maximum per hour. The other stretch is Kongdoor to Apharwat, which uses 18 towers and can handle 600 people per hour. In 2005, a consortium of Indian and French companies completed this project.

     

    Gulmarg Ski Area - Gulmarg is equally attractive both in summer as well as in winter, skiing is always more fun in winters. Tourists who plan to stay in the ski area can get many comfortable hotels and guest houses here. Otherwise, there are lots of tour operators arranging day trips from Srinagar to Gulmarg. About 35 kilometres away from Srinagar, is the Gulmarg hill resort, which is a part of the PirPanjals Himalayan range. Heavy snowfall in this region has made it a favourite ski area for foreign as well as inland residents.The skiing area consists of the gondola terrain, lower tree skiing areas and the poma terrain in the town. A good option is to go and ski in the old fir and pine trees that take you into the valley. It is also possible to do heli-ski type runs from great heights off a gondola.

     

    Golf Course - Gulmarg golf course, counted among the most beautiful golf courses in India, is composed of both slopes and inclines. This golf club was started by the British who used Gulmarg as a holiday resort. In 1904, this golf course was opened to the golf lovers. In 1922, first Golf Championship was organised at this golf course.Golf Course in Gulmarg, situated at a height of 2,650 mabove sea level, is the highest green golf course in the world. This 18-hole golf course is completely managed by the Jammu and Kashmir Tourism Development Corporation. Temporary membership, even for one day, is available at the club for the golfers.

     

    Apharwat Peak - As the place is covered in snow even in summer visitors are advised to carry adequate winter protections, even though some items can be hired locally.To transport the visitors to the top there is a cable car service called Gondola which operates in two levels. First level takes one from Gulmarg to Kongdoor for INR 100/- and second level from Kongdoor to Apharwat for INR 250/- , all being one-way charges. A full day pass costs INR 1000/-. The Gondola with 36 six seat cabins lifts through 1330 m height and covers nearly 5 km distance to level two at 3980 m on Apharwat Peak.Apharwat Peak, 13500 feet high, is a famous tourist destination located at thirteen km away from Gulmarg. This snow covered mountain lies close to the Line of Control (LOC) with Pakistan. Apharwat slopes are the longest and the highest ski slopes of Asia and is a destination of ski enthusiasts from all over the world.

    Baba Reshi Shrine - It is located on the slopes of the mountains, between Gulmarg and Tangmarg. Placed at a height of 2,133 mabove sea level, this place can be reached by tourists through local modes of transportation like sledges and field chutes.Baba Reshi Shrine, dedicated to the saint, Baba Reshi, is a mosque dating from 1480. Saint Baba Reshi was a Muslim scholar, who served as a major courtier during the reign of King Zain-ul-Abidin, King of Kashmir.The shrine is placed in the green lawns, which is large enough to accommodate many thousand devotees at a time.

     

    Khilanmarg - From the peak, views of Himalayas, Nanga Parbat, and the twin 7,100-m peaks of Nun and Kun can be availed.Khilanmarg is a small valley, which is the site for Gulmarg’s winter ski runs.     Magam - In the town is present the IdaraAbulFazal Abbas Islamic Library, which was established in 1985. With its collection of Islamic books, literature, CD and audio cassettes, it has become the largest Islamic and private library in the whole of Jammu and Kashmir State. Apart from this, this library also helps the orphan and poor people by donations.  Magam is located in the Budgam District at an elevation of about 1,569 m.     Maharani Temple - Thronged by devotees throughout the year, the temple is a popular attraction of the destination. Besides, Aarti is performed at the temple twice a day.It is also referred to as Rani Temple, as it was built by MohiniBaiSisodhia, the wife of the erstwhile ruler of Kashmir, Maharaja Hari Singh. Maharaja Hari Singh was the last king of Kashmir, who ruled the region till 1915. She is believed to have spent some time at the temple worshipping Lord Shiva.Maharani Temple, located on a small hillock in the middle of Gulmarg hill station, previously served as the royal temple of Dogra Kings.

     

    NingleNallah -This nallah is situated about 10 km away from Gulmarg. Furthermore, tourists can walk down the green valley, cross the NingleNallah through a bridge, and continue to Khilanmarg. Area around the stream is a favourite camping ground among tourists.NingleNallah is a beautiful stream, flowing down the mountains near Gulmarg. Melting snow and ice that flows from Apharwat Peak to Alpather Lake in the summer season gives rise to this stream. The stream continues to flow down into the valley and meets the Jhelum River near Sopore.

    Banibal Nag -Banibal Nag is a beautiful lake located at a height of 9,600 ft above the famous Ferozpore Valley. It can be reached by a 5 hours journey from Gulmarg to Banibag Nag.

     

    Lien Marg - Lien Marg is a meadow of flowers that is set amidst pine forests. Placed at an elevation of 2,653 m above sea level, it is a round the year destination and India's only winter sports resort. By crossing the bridge over NingleNallah, this site can be reached.

     

    Kookernag - Kookernag has some of the most beautiful rose gardens in the region. In the spring season, tourists can indulge in trout fishing in the region.

     

    St. Marrys Church - Furthermore, this church is about 150 years old and is among the few Christian churches in the entire state. In 2003, on the occasion of its renovation, first Christmas mass was organised in the church after a span of 14 years.St Mary’s Church dates from the period of the British Raj in India. The construction of this church was done as per the British architectures, in line with the other British churches.

     

    Koutar Nag - This Lake remains frozen till mid-June, after which strips of melting ice can be seen floating over the water.Koutar Nag is a lake, situated at an elevation of 13,250 ft above sea level. Owing to its elevation, the place offers a beautiful view of Poonch.

     

    Benji's Bar at the Highlands Park - Benji's Bar at the Highlands Park is one of the beautiful locations around Gulmarg to enjoy a meal or a snack. The place has been adorned with personal memorabilia of the erstwhile owner.
